UV Alert! How to Protect Your Skin
A day of sunbathing sounds wonderful, but it is not so healthy for your skin. Walking around in the sun for too long without proper protection causes your skin to age and increases the risk of skin cancer.
With these tips you can better protect yourself against the sun 🌞:
- Choose good sun protection
Apply sunscreen with a minimum factor of 30 and don't forget to reapply every 2 to 3 hours. Do you still have a bottle of sunscreen from last year? Be careful with that, because an opened bottle only lasts for 1 year. So buy a new bottle every year, because that way you are assured of good protection against the sun. Don't forget your ears and lips when applying sunscreen!
- Stay out of the brightest sun and cover your skin
The sun is strongest between 11am and 3pm. Avoid the sun at these times and enjoy the sun in the morning or in the afternoon. Wear protective clothing, a hat or cap and sunglasses with UV protection when the sun is at its brightest. Tightly woven fabric provides better protection from the sun.
How to care for your skin after sun exposure
Wash your skin and face with a mild soap after a day in the sun. Do not shower for too long or too hot. Your skin is already more dehydrated from exposure to the sun and is therefore more vulnerable than normal. After you have cleaned your skin and face, it is important to hydrate well afterwards.
We recommend the following WONDR products 🧼:
- Vitamin Boost facewash bar, Overnight Repair Glow leave on facemask & Plant Powered lip balm to cleanse and nourish your face
- Apricot Dreams shower bar & Body Butter stick Apricot gives your skin the right care and hydration after a day in the sun.
How to care for your hair after swimming
It’s great to take a refreshing dip during your holiday, but the sun, chlorine and salt can dry out and discolour your hair, making it more brittle and vulnerable. Your hair needs some aftercare and WONDR has everything you need!
Rinse your hair in the shower before and after swimming
If your hair has already absorbed water, it will absorb less chlorine or salt when you swim. Therefore, be sure to rinse your hair before you go swimming and do this again after swimming. Chlorine and salt will still be in your hair, so it is important to rinse your hair afterwards 🚿.
Take care of your hair after swimming
It is important to rinse your hair after swimming and protect it with shampoo and conditioner. You can also apply conditioner preventatively before swimming, but the aftercare is more important! For this we recommend the following WONDR products: vegan honey shampoo and conditioner bar 🍯.
There you go, now you can safely enjoy your holiday! Have fun and don't forget to put on sunscreen 😉
