WHAT IS HYGIENE POVERTY?

Hygiene poverty occurs when someone cannot afford daily hygiene and personal care products. Most of us take these products for granted: think of soap, shampoo, or laundry detergent.

Hygiene poverty is common among low-income families, the homeless, and vulnerable individuals (due to age or illness, for example). This prevents these people from receiving equal opportunities: children miss school, and adults don't get equal employment opportunities.

PREVIOUS YEARS

By collaborating with aid organizations like Kras Gent, we've encountered heartbreaking stories during our volunteer work over the past few years. People who have to choose between putting food on the table and taking care of themselves. Children who are afraid to go to school because they lack access to basic products like soap or shampoo. What struck us time and again is that while surplus food is often readily available, simple hygiene products remain a significant loss. That's why, for every WONDR gift you buy, we donate a shampoo bar to someone in need. Thanks to your support, we were able to donate over €65,000 worth of personal care products to aid organizations like Kras Gent last year.

We primarily support people with food products, which are readily available to us, but on a family budget, hygiene-related issues often weigh heavily. These are products that are harder for us to obtain, and that's what makes WONDR care's initiative so wonderful!
